Drinking Chocolate Recipes
All of these versions must be prepared in a small pot over medium to low heat with constant whisking—chocolate needs a little love, time & attention from you, too.
Adjust proportions to taste.
HOT CHOCOLATE: Combine 2 TBS of chocolate, 1 TBS sugar & 6 oz water in a small pot over medium heat, constantly whisking until the chocolate is fully incorporated. Pour into your favorite mug and add more sugar or milk to taste. Finish with marshmallows, whipped cream or a peppermint cane.
DRINKING CHOCOLATE: Combine 2 TBS of chocolate & 6 oz of milk (dairy or alternative) in a small pot over medium-low heat, constantly whisking until the chocolate is fully incorporated. Pour into your favorite mug and add as much milk or sugar as you would to your coffee or tea. Finish with a pinch of sea salt, dash of cinnamon or cayenne.
SIPPING CHOCOLATE: Combine 2 TBS of chocolate & 3 oz of water in a small pot over low heat, constantly whisking until the chocolate is fully incorporated (don't let it reduce). Think of this as chocolate's answer to espresso. Add milk or sugar to taste.
CHOCOLATE SYRUP: Follow instructions for sipping chocolate, then let the chocolate cool. Pour over ice cream, pancakes or into your espresso.
